DAVAO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / 16 Jul) – Two unidentified gunmen shot dead a teenage student in an attack in downtown Davao City in the southern Philippines, police said Monday.

Police said the Jay Dumaloan, 16, who sidelined as a taxi dispatcher, was shot in the head in front of a shopping mall at around 6.30 p.m. on Sunday.

The gunmen escaped on a motorcycle after the killing. Police said it is still investigating the motive of the attack.

No group claimed responsibility for the murder, but Davao City is notoriously known for the spate of extra-judicial killings and unresolved murders of mostly criminal suspects and thieves.

On Friday, three unidentified men, armed with knives, attacked and killed Rosito Campus, 43, and escaped on a motorbike.

Campus, implicated in a series of robbery, was with his four-year old son when the men attacked him on a busy area near downtown Davao. The boy was not harmed. (Romy Bwaga)
