ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / 22 Aug) – A grenade exploded early Wednesday in the farming town of Ipil in Zamboanga Sibugay province in the southern Philippines, police and military said.

Police said the explosion damaged a van parked in downtown Ipil and there were no reports of casualties.

Soldiers and policemen rushed to the area after the blast believed triggered by a feud. There were no reports of arrests, but soldiers were deployed in the town to help the local police force maintain peace and order.

“The grenade explosion occurred early in the morning and believed to be result of a personal grudge. It has nothing to do with terrorism,” Colonel Jovencio Magalso, commander of the Army’s 102nd Infantry Brigade based in Ipil town.

He said the police are still investigating the explosion. (Mindanao Examiner)
