DAVAO CITY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / Mar. 13, 2008) – Manila is to pursue the implementation of at least 27 priority infrastructure projects in southern Philippines as part of the so-called Mindanao Super Region program.

The projects would include seven airports, two sea ports, nine roads and bridges, eight power and energy projects and one major irrigation project. Small irrigation projects and farm-to-market roads are also being constructed to serve the agribusiness farmers in Mindanao.

Government officials and representatives from the private sectors and international development partners also met Thursday in Davao City for the 3rd National Government Infrastructure Forum.

The Arroyo government has been rocked by corruption allegations and scandals involving her family and the opposition and civil society groups have demanded the President’s resignation to pave way for the holding of snap elections. (Mindanao Examiner)
